Holidays for many gardeners revolve around their plants. Just when do you get away in the summer and still be confident when you return that you’ll still have some edible crops to come home to? But even if you decide to put off your hols until the winter, those of us with full time jobs or who like to get out and about are always a little in fear of what a hot, dry day might be doing to plants in the greenhouse or polytunnel. Did I water the tomatoes? Did I open the vents? Will my next door neighbour remember to water the beans?
While no one or nothing is likely to give your plants the TLC you do, there are lots of techniques and great products that can help you keep your plants ticking over, whether you are away for a couple of days or a couple of weeks.
