CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP
BARROW RAIDERS welcomed former player Joe Bullock on temporary terms from Salford as the troubled Super League club recalled his fellow frontrower Jamie Pye from the Northern Competitions Stadium.
Bullock, 32, had four seasons at Barrow between 2015 and 2018, joining from Leigh before moving to Wigan, where in a first spell, he came through the development system.
He had two-and-a-half years at Warrington before switching to Salford midway through last season, initially on loan before penning a contract to 2026.
Bullock was available for the league game at Widnes yesterday (Sunday, April 13), with Barrow’s director of rugby Andy Gaffney explaining: "We are short on numbers in the pack, given the injuries we are having to contend with and Jamie Pye’s return to his parent club."
Pye had arrived on a season-long loan, but Salford, who remain under RFL-imposed financial constraints as a takeover saga drags on, exercised a recall option eight appearances in.
His last outing was in the 38-24 1895 Cup quarter-final defeat at Oldham, which ended Barrow's hopes of a first Wembley appearance since 1967.
