TIGERS TAKE THEIR CHANCES
HULL FC 14 CASTLEFORD TIGERS 22
ASHLEY HOPE
MKM Stadium, Friday
Sam Eseh brings down George Lawler
CASTLEFORD entered this game after successive defeats to Warrington and Leeds, while the hosts were riding high after wins against Catalans and Leigh.
But those results proved to be an unreliable guide, with the Tigers rallying to earn their fourth win of the season.
Both sides had suffered significant injuries to Hull’s Will Pryce and Castleford’s Tex Hoy, while John Asiata, Jed Cartwright, Liam Watts and Jordan Lane were still missing from Hull’s pack, while the Tigers were without the flair of Fletcher Rooney.
But they began in fine style, with Innes Senior lunging acrobatically to open the scoring just four minutes in.
Daejarn Asi’s instinctive pass to Senior and Rowan Milnes’ subsequent conversion were early indicators that it might be the Tigers who were best equipped to cope with key absences.
