CAN WE COMPETE WITH THE AUSSIES?
LAST week I was fortunate enough to watch the NRL Grand Final.
And what a thrilling game it was. The brilliance on show made me wonder how England will cope with the Kangaroos when they turn up for the first Test at Wembley.
I strongly hope that the RFL can go somewhere near to filling Wembley for that match, as an English and expatriate Australian population gets the opportunity to see brilliant players like Reece Walsh, Nathan Cleary, Cameron Munster, Isaah Yeo, Mark Nawaqanitawase and the rest of the Australian squad.
My hope is that they will come into the first Test under-prepared and that England will be able to get off to a winning start in the Ashes series.
We also have some fine players but the problem for us is that the Aussies appear to have far more quality players to choose from.
But I would encourage your readers to take the plunge and buy tickets for the game and shout the England team home.
To beat the Aussies at Wembley would be the biggest positive for the game for many, many years.

LET'S BE HONEST
After reading Barry Shears post on the Leeds v Saints game (Mailbag, 6th October) I had to reply.
I don't think I've ever seen a more blinkered response to a game in my life!
