My Barcelona: a local’s tips, from Japanese cuisine to Catalan art galleries

ESTELA PORTOLÉS is a fashion graduate turned entrepreneur who was born in Barcelona and has lived in the city her entire life. Her shop OMG BCN stocks a miscellany of items, from furnishings to jewellery, crockery to t-shirts, exclusively by Barcelona-based designers. ‘I only have things in the shop that I would buy myself or have in my home,’ says the 29-year-old. She can’t imagine living anywhere else, particularly given the cultural explosion the city has seen in recent years. ‘A lot of people are doing great things here and that’s what I celebrate,’ she says. ‘This has become such an important city artistically, and it is so beautiful too.’
