The Liverpool Biennial commences this July, with installations including ancient Greek sculptures and futuristic cityscapes popping up in unlikely locations. Step into the abandoned ABC Cinema to see a live re-imagining of ’40s classic Casablanca – the last film screened here before it closed nearly two decades ago. Alternatively, head for the former Cains Brewery, now dealing in particle physics of a different sort by hosting a sculpture based on the Large Hadron Collider. Keep an eye out too for Everybody Razzle Dazzle – which sees a working Mersey ferry, Snowdrop, decorated in technicolour camouflage by Sir Peter Blake, a man accustomed to Liverpoolbased artistic collaborations, having famously designed the sleeve for the Beatles’ album Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.
