LONDON, ENGLAND

Most of the drawings in a new exhibition at London’s National Portrait Gallery were never intended to be seen widely, and this is a rare chance to view such delicate works by some of the greatest Renaissance and Baroque artists. The characters that gaze out from these studies range from famous figures to mysterious yet entrancing everyday sitters. Standouts include a Leonardo da Vinci male nude and a 1530s Holbein portrait of Sir John Godsalve (pictured).
