When I turned the corner, I couldn’t believe my eyes: a beach full of penguins standing under the African sun. Confused and amazed in equal measure, I kept asking my girlfriend: ‘What are they doing here?’ Set against a backdrop where the sky and sea seemed to compete against one another to be the more flawless, these penguins have clearly adapted to life in Africa – replacing snow for sand, and going from protecting themselves from the cold to working on their tans. I’d never seen anything like it before. With the sun sparkling overhead, my girlfriend and I stood and savoured the beauty and comedy of the scene.
