Yinchuan, China (2015)

Yinchuan Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA)

by We Architech Anonymous (WAA)

MOCA opened in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (NHAR) of China with an intention to specialise in Chinese and Islamic art – Yinchuan having been a staging post on the ancient Silk Road. But it’s the architecture that surprises, a flowing form said to reflect the Yellow River. The building is a representation of a stream that also offers a bridge between the Arab and Chinese worlds – a heady, handsome mix of geological and geopolitical forces.
