Letter from the Editor

This month...

…we’re celebrating slow travel. In a bid to savour all that lies between A and B, we start with a Great Escape than meanders via assorted ferries through the Greek Cyclades (p47). Our route takes in the famed sunsets of Santorini, and the hidden coves of Paros – best accessed by boat.

We switch modes of transport for a journey across the States on a long-running rail service little known even to Americans, the Sunset Limited (p62). This trundles passengers between late-night dancing in the historic backstreets of New Orleans and early-morning surf lessons alongside LA’s Santa Monica pier. Expect bike rides through New Zealand, Vietnam and France’s Île de Ré (p74), an encounter with Noah’s successors in Armenia (p84), and road-trip inspiration from our community of Instagram followers in a new slot within our Postcards section (p20).
