WHAT’S THE FURTHEST YOU MIGHT CONSIDER venturing for a long weekend? A dash to Paris? A scramble to Dubai? Or maybe a 14,400-mile round-trip to the Chilean city of Santiago, the most distant South American capital from the UK? Believe it or not, tour operator Last Frontiers has just launched its Ultimate Long Weekend tours to the city, departing after work on a Friday and landing back in London at Tuesday lunchtime. To coincide with British Airways launching direct flights from Heathrow this January, the trip is dedicated to seeing this energetic town in one jam-packed mini break. Staying in the bohemian Lastarria neighbourhood, guests explore the wrought-iron fish market, learn Chilean gastronomy at a cooking class and pop by the country’s biggest arts festival before running to catch the plane home.
