PARIS, FRANCE
The banks of the Bassin de la Villette have long been a place where Parisians assemble for recreation: be it playing boules, enjoying picnics or piloting canal boats. This month sees swimming added to that list, the waters of the artifcial lake having been deemed clean enough for the first time. Pools will be built around its edges as part of Paris Plages – an annual project that turns the city’s waterways into a mini Côte d’Azur.
