Making Jewellery  |  October 2009
As I’m sitting here writing my editor’s message Nat King Cole is playing in the background. One of my favourite songs that he sings is Autumn Leaves. The lyrics: The autumn leaves drift by my window, the autumn leaves of red and gold……..are uncannily appropriate to be broadcast from the radio as I write. The jewellery projects in this issue reflect not only the change in fashion trends for this season but they are also designed to fit with our new lifestyle trends. Vintage themes and natural elements were the inspiration behind several of the pieces. Leaves, birds and flowers have been used to reflect the change of season whilst those keen makers of vintage jewellery will be delighted with the steampunk pins on page 42 and bold 50s inspired necklace featured on page 44.
