Aftermarket Used:

•St. George Model 1:35 scale German Artillery Officer GMF101

The Rheinische Metallwaaren-und Maschinenfabrik (System Erhardt) K.-Fak 7.7cm L/27 was a mobile anti-aircraft (and later anti-tank) truck developed by Imperial Germany just before the Great War. Both Krupp and Reinmetall produced these vehicle types, which were used throughout the conflict from 1914 until 1918.

The 1:35 scale kit (kit# GM103) featured here was completely 3D printed in resin by St. George Model in a limited series run in November of 2021, and I acquired it along with two 3D printed resin figures meant to go with it. Yury Morocco, who produced the kits from his home in France, has since released a second run of the kits. They are sold through his FaceBook page https://www. facebook.com/artmaquette/

The kit contains some extremely complex parts, including the complete chassis with suspension, drive shafts etc. in one piece. The detailed engine also was printed in one piece. Detail is impeccable on the engine hood with delicate hollowed out handles, and the small lights that attach to the sides very intricate design.

Because of the brittle resin used in the manufacture, there was some breakage discovered when I opened the package, mostly the front of the chassis. Although Yury offered to send a new one, I chose to repair the damage since the breaks were clean and parts went back together well with super glue. I did need to straighten some warped parts in warm water, and unfortunately the entire chassis had a small warp which caused a few problems later in the build.

Tools and Materials Used:

Yury Morozov did remove almost all of the supports formed when the parts were printed before shipping off the kits. There were still some tiny remnants of these supports here and there and these had to be removed with a fine pair of cutters. There also was a fair amount of a sticky residue left on the surface of the resin which I was advised to remove with denatured alcohol. Although I did make an effort to do this, parts of the resin seemed to remain a bit tacky.
