“Fury”, the second most famous resident of the Tank Museum, an M4A2 E8, originally donated by the Canadian Army to Shrivenham military science college, but with its 76mm gun and HVSS resembling a late war M4A3 E8. Next to it a privately owned cast hull M4A1 Sherman II.
Magazines and books may furnish great pictures, but only dynamic tank shows will convey the sights and sounds of armour on the move, the roar of engines, the bangs of pyrotechnics in mock battles, the quietness of moving wheeled reconnaissance vehicles and the smell of diesel injected into engine exhaust systems to make smoke screens, and the skills of knowledgeable commentators presenting interesting descriptions and facts.
