Tamiya 1:35 Panzer IV/70 (A) • Kit No. 35381
Brett Green paints and weathers Tamiya’s new 1:35 Panzer IV/70 (A).
Ispent some time examining photos of Panzer IV /70(A)s. Most exhibited a hard-edged three-colour camouflage, although the patterns varied considerably and the finish was sometimes hard to determine due to dust and low contrast between colours.
I have used Vallejo’s Hobby Paint Olive Drab spray paint in the past and have been happy with the results. The paint sprays smoothly straight from the can, it dries fast and delivers a dead flat finish.
Unfortunately their Dark Yellow spray did not look right to my eye. It was a lurid yellow-green shade.
The completed model awaiting paint.
It did remind me of an old Humbrol colour from my teenage years in the 1970s – Authentic Colours perhaps – but I wasn’t convinced.
My second attempt was AK Real Colors Paint Set -German Army 1943-45. This contains German Dark Yellow, Olive Green and Red Brown.
