time José built and detailed Tamiya’s 1:35 US M8 Light Armoured Car Greyhound.
Now, he adds a base and a figure to his scene depicting an M-8 Greyhound used as barricade in the city of San Cristobal, Venezuela in March 2014.
A round wood base is used for this project.
A piece of heat isolation foam is used for the vase volume. Heat isolation foam is easy to find, easy to cut, cheap and lightweight.
The heat isolation foam is cut into a circular shape and the edges smoothed with sand paper.
The heat isolation foam dry fitted into the base.
Just for size checking.
The model placed into the base, just to check the final position and keep the composition balanced.
The entire base is covered.
AKInteractive Terrains Asphalt AK813 being applied. This is an acrylic past, so water can be added in order to increase the flow. The paste is applied directly into the foam and direct from the jar. The adhesive properties are really strong and the final texture very subtle.
Once the paste well dry, we are presented with a fine texture and a total matt look. Amazing base for further painting and weathering.
Several cuts are made into the wood base. A grid is made and will increase the glue adhesive properties.
Deluxe Materials Foam 2 Foam glue is applied into the wood base. The grid will allows the glue to penetrate into the wood and increase the bond.
The heat isolation foam piece is pressed into the wood base. The Deluxe Materials Foam 2 Foam glue is very strong and dries in a few minutes.
The base is airbrushed in AKInteractive Rubber Black RC022 and Medium Grey FS36270 RC249.
A stencil is used to make several soil effects.
