Recently sent for review are these three sets of Lifecolor paints which comprise six 22ml jars of paint in each box. Starting with the US Army 1950-1984 set it covers the period from the Korean War up until the MERDC schemes were introduced (and no doubt those colours are available as another Lifecolor set). The colours included are UA276 Faded Olive Drab FS34087, UA277 Faded USMC Green 24052, UA278 Olive Drab FS34087, UA279 Faded Olive Drab FS24087 (this is a semigloss shade),UA280 Semi-Gloss Olive Drab FS14087 (the ‘1’ at the front of the FS number denotes a gloss colour) and UA281 APC Interior Green FS24533.
The second set covers US Army uniforms between 1948-1980 and includes UA482 OG107 Dark Variant, UA483 OG107 Light Variant, UA484 ERDL Brown, UA 485 ERDL Medium Green, UA486 ERDL Light Green and UA487 M-1956 LCE.
The first two colours are for the basic uniform of the period while the ERDL colours are for a camouflage pattern developed in the late 1940s but not introduced until the Vietnam War in 1967 where it was issued to elite recon and special operation troops. The camo scheme is actually a four colour one so you’ll have to use black from elsewhere as Lifecolor don’t include it, also the ERDL colours are for the earlier predominantly green scheme as this was later superseded by a dominant brown scheme. The final colour is for equipment belts.
