Fusion Delay/ Flanger/Vintage Ensemble

Erica Synths’ ever-expanding Fusion line now brings a Delay/Flanger/Vintage Ensemble to your Eurorack – but will it be a good year? Dave Gale uncorks one to find out…

Difficult to miss, the valve takes centre-stage on this beautifully designed module

With the continued onset of the many modules that arrive with alarming regularity in the Eurorack form, it’s inescapable that there is a degree of reinventing the wheel with much of it. Strangely, though, the one area that has always felt somewhat lacking is the availability of good analogue-based effects, which – thanks to the oddities of Eurorack audio signals – can just be integrated into a Eurorack with a minimum of fuss, unlike conventional outboard.

Vintage design

The first rather inescapable thing that you notice about the new Fusion module is the beautiful design. Stark but sharp, in the usual Erica black, with a medium-sized vacuum tube adorning the front panel (or more accurately, just inset behind it, like a cuckoo in a clock) – but the tonal quality will be all the more menacing, as we shall discover.
