MOUNT KUMGANG, NORTH KOREA
A North Korean woman bids farewell to family members returning to South Korea after a reunion at a resort on August 22. Reunions between families divided by the Korean War (1950 to 1953) have been sporadic; this was the first since officials agreed they could resume in June. According to Seoul, of the 132,000 South Koreans who have applied for such a visit since the end of the war, 75,000 have died.
