Once again it’s New Year’s, and it’s time to whet the appetites of non-sport card collectors with a look into the near future. This year looks to be a great example of living in “interesting times” as the hobby contends with new trends, new challenges, new technology and exciting new projects.
Non Sport Update contacted dozens of card producers and pried loose whatever information could be made available. Some companies couldn’t announce anything because contracts and details are not yet nailed down. If you don’t see your favorite company listed here, please know that NSU asked.
At press time the Screen Actors Guild strike had just ended. The ban on doing publicity for studio properties during the strike seriously disrupted the process of creating most autograph cards. Actors now have the “all-clear” to resume signing cards, but it has thrown some schedules into disarray. Of course, manufacturer plans occasionally change and surprises always pop up, so keep an eye on future issues of NSU for the latest news.
