COUNCILLORS urged to oppose a Knapdale wind farm with turbines ‘eight metres short of the Blackpool Tower’ have voted to see for themselves on a site visit.
EDF Energy Renewables (EDF ER) applied to build Airigh Wind Farm, composed of 14 wind turbines up to 145m tall and each generating 50.4-58.8 KW, in an area 8.4km south west of Tarbert.
The site would be accessed via the existing Alt Dearg Wind Farm entrance near Inverneill on the A83 and require 14km of new track to be laid and 16km to be upgraded. One hundred and sixty hectares (ha) of forestry would also need to be felled, with 130 ha replanted.
