PORTREE Community First Responders hope to raise £1,500 to help buy the equipment.
On its fundraising page, the group said: ‘The equipment we require is not cheap and any donations, no matter how small, are greatly appreciated. Even once the kit has been purchased, it requires maintenance and upgrading.’
A community First Responder is a local volunteer who agrees to undertake training in basic life support. This enables them to provide life saving treatment to people in the community who are critically ill, in the first few minutes prior to the arrival of an ambulance.
