Pipe band’s New York tribute to Barra girl Eilidh

Sgoil Lionacleit Pipe Band, made up of secondary school students from Uist and Barra, pictured in New York after taking part in the city’s famous Tartan Week. It is the first time the pipe band has attended the event and the motivation came when tragedy hit the island’s small community. Sgoil Lionacleit Pipe Band member Eilidh MacLeod was one of 22 victims of the Manchester bombing in May 2017. Gaelic media company MacTV has been following the pipe band since it started fundraising for its trip, which has taken members 5,000km away from the islands they call home.
