THE SNP’s Alasdair Allan was returned as MSP for Na h-Eileanan an Iar having received 6,874 votes, more than all of the other parties combined.
The results came in early on Friday morning (May 6), just as the picture nationally was beginning to show a very strong result for the SNP, and for another Scottish Government led by Nicola Sturgeon.
Mr Allan commented: ‘The greatest privilege I have ever had is to be elected MSP for the islands, and my awareness of that does not diminish with time. I would like to thank not only the 52 per cent of islanders who voted for me, but everyone who turned out -my job is to work for everyone in the islands, which is what I intend to do.
