■ DYSLEXIA Scotland is holding a number of masterclasses for parents in Fort William today (Thursday March 15). Dyslexia expert Fiona Dickinson will deliver a talk on what dyslexia is, how it can affect a child and what practical supports and strategies can help. This free talk will be at An Cala, Fort William, at 7pm and has been funded by the Scottish Government. There is no need to book.
■ STAFF and volunteers from Caolbased Lochaber Sensory Care (LSC) for sight and hearing support will visit Abbey field Care Home in Ballachulish on Monday March 19, from 10.30am until 12.30pm. LSC representatives will offer advice and assistance to anyone with a hearing loss or sight loss – residents and members of the public. The team will also repair and maintain NHS hearing aids, supply batteries and provide re-tubing. No appointment is required for this free service.
■ TWO Lochaber village halls are hosting ‘jazz in the village’ concerts this month. Saxophone and piano jazz duo Ian Millar and Dominic Spencer will be performing at the Sunart Centre tomorrow (Friday March 16) and Glenuig Village Hall on Saturday March 17.
