Sir,
Is it the intention of your columnist and sometime letter writer Iain Thornber to mislead your readers or is it just that he has an alternative view of democracy from the rest of us?
His most recent claim is that the result of 71 per cent in favour of the new deal in a contract poll of GPs sponsored by the BMA and the Scottish Government was ‘a nonsense’ because only 20 per cent voted. Leaving aside for the moment the fact that he is, let’s be kind and say, mistaken in this, the actual turnout was 39 per cent.
