WILLIE ‘Big Bill’ Neilson is cycling 737 miles from Lands End to Oban to raise funds for three Scottish charities close to his heart, Alzheimer Scotland, the Beatson Cancer Charity and Friends of the Craighalbert Centre.
His epic ride will start at Land’s End, the most south-westerly point of mainland Britain, on August 26 and see him ride more than 100 miles a day for a week to reach his his hometown, Oban, on September 1.
‘I am doing this to raise funds and awareness for three causes close to my family and friends,’ he said. ‘In 2017, my gran passed away after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. She was bound to a nursing home for her own safety and well-being.
