THE FIRST carriages for a new £100 million fleet of Caledonian Sleeper trains have arrived in Scotland ahead of their introduction to the service later this year.
Starting in October, the overnight rail service – of which Fort William is a main destination – will be transformed with the introduction of 75 new carriages being phased in. Five carriages arrived in Glasgow on Tuesday morning to begin extensive testing.
The carriages have travelled through the Channel Tunnel to Scotland from the Velim Test Centre in the Czech Republic where they have been undergoing trials.
