THE Moray Wheelers, a group of 32 cyclists with an average age of ‘well above 60’, pedalled down the Outer Hebrides last week on their 400-mile circular route from Elgin raising funds for Cancer Research UK.
The cyclists, the eldest of whom is 75, battled torrential rain and 12 punctures on their first 63- mile leg, fought strong headwinds between Stornoway and Benbecula, and then a cancelled ferry between Barra and Oban.
