A ‘FIRM but fair’ approach is being taken after more than £110,000 of rent was unpaid in Lochaber.
A recent housing performance report conducted by the High land Council (HC) showed the rent arrears figure is £1,394,688. Lochaber rent arrears at quarter one stood at £117,306.
A spokesperson from the HC explained: ‘Rent arrears can occur for a variety of reasons. The approach we take in managing arrears is a firm but fair one. We will give tenants every advice, support and assistance to help them pay their rent and address any financial or benefit problems, but we will also use all legal options to ensure rent is collected. It is important that tenants contact the council if they are having problems.’
