Students at Oban High staged a protest back in June 1995 demanding a return to wearing the school uniform. The rebellious pupils donned their white shirts with gold and black ties to reinforce their point. Louise Clark, then a 16-year-old fIfth-year student, said at the time: ‘We were fed-up wearing the same clothes during the week as at weekends.’ And Lorna MacLeod, also 16, added: ‘It’s an attempt to stop bullying. If some people are not wearing the “right clothes”, they get picked on. Now everyone is the same.’ Rector Brian Mitchell commented: ‘I’m very impressed and delighted that pupils have decided to start wearing the uniform again.’
