FOLLOWING the recent submission of an application for a trial reintroduction of lynx into Kielder Forest in Northumberland, Lynx UK Trust has announced it has launched further consultations focused on Argyll and Inverness-shire.
For the past 12 months, the Lynx UK Trust has been in discussions with major landowners about a trial reintroduction of Eurasian lynx in Argyll and Inverness-shire, confirming access to potential release sites in each county.
The trust aims to explore the potential for lynx in the areas, including benefits it could bring to the ecology, controlling deer populations and helping to protect the ailing capercaillie.
