Hundreds flock to the Killin show

KILLIN Agricultural Show attracted a good crowd of 800 visitors and locals at Breadalbane Park on Saturday.

No cattle class featured this year to preserve the state of the park but that did not stop an impressive showing in the blackface and cross sheep classes, and, for the first time, Swaledale sheep.

Killin sheep farmers have used the hardy swale to cross the blackface ewe for some years, and there are a good number of their offspring in local flocks and some of the pure blood.

This was the first show the Swaledale Sheep Breeders’ Association has sponsored outside the Royal Highland Show, and organisers hope this will slowly expand in future.
