Following our report on the Advertising Standards Authority clampdown on misleading delivery charges to remote areas such as Argyll, and the Highlands and Islands, we asked for readers’ experiences.
Pam Baker: ‘Several websites have simply refused to deliver to the ‘Highlands and Islands’. Some carriers just leave things on the (Luing) ferry. I have got round it with small items by just quoting my address as Oban and the postcode, which is strictly speaking correct. However, some won’t even deliver to Oban. Non-delivery of white goods to the island is a problem I, my neighbour and many others have experienced.’
Kevin Irvine: ‘When it comes to buying records it can be £3.50 or upwards to £5 for a single item. Anything that is „next day delivery” you’re talking £10 and upwards.’
