There was delight as pals from across the water took the Gold Medals at the Royal National Mòd. Carol MacLean from Tobermory and Hector Mackechnie from Savary, Lochaline, celebrated their huge achievement in winning the sought-after medals. Those who have ‘gold cards’ and are fluent in Gaelic took to the stage to compete in one of the Royal National Mòd’s most prestigious competitions. Hector said he is now going to sing with his choir, Burach, while Carol has her eye on the 2017 Oban Times medal. Turn to page 9 for more Mòd coverage.
