STORM Henry caused more than one-third of all CalMac sailings to be cancelled, as gusts at more than 100mph swept along the West Coast. Wind speeds peaked in the early hours of February 2, with strong winds continuing throughout the day, resulting in 90 per cent of sailings in the Inner, Outer and Southern Hebrides being called off. But ferries weren’t the only victims of the weather, as both trains and buses were also disrupted, with police called out to a number of overturned lorries. Due to high winds and high tides, waves bombarded the esplanade in Oban and caused waterfalls to flow backwards on Mull.
