A NEW Gaelic literary festival takes place on South Uist at the end of this month during Book Week Scotland, capping off a successful year for the island’s arts organisation, Ceòlas.

‘The best song concert in the 21 years of the Ceòlas summer school’, a £1m grant from the Scottish Government for the Cnoc Soilleir Development and an inaugural literary festival featuring the Uist-launch of Catrìona Black’s new book Forradh: Sly Cooking: Ceòlas Uibhist will celebrate its successes at this year’s AGM on December 1. This year has seen Ceòlas expand its core activity of events, including the addition of two festivals: Toradh/ Harvest in August and a forthcoming Gaelic literary festival, ‘Às an Tobar’, during Book Week Scotland 2017 in December.
