LOCHABER High School pupils returned home last week with a letter from the Highland Council’s education chief warning parents that pupils should not be taken on holidays outside of the school holidays.
In a letter to children’s parents and guardians, head of education at the Highland Council Jim Steven said that although the majority of families plan breaks around the school holiday dates, pupils are increasingly being taken on holidays during term time.
A Highland Council spokesperson explained: ‘This is not the first time such a letter has been sent to all Highland schools. Reminders as such have been issued over the past years by education management.
