Éva Risztov, 2012 Olympic gold medallist in the 10km open water marathon, has announced her retirement.
It is actually the second time Éva has retired. After a successful career in the pool, winning three silver medals at the 2003 World Aquatics Championships, she retired in 2005, but returned to competitive swimming as an open water swimmer in 2009.
In 2010 she came seventh in the 10k at the European Championships. She took silver in the 10k at Berlin in 2014, but her greatest success was her 10k gold at the London Olympics. In 2012 she was awarded FINA open water swimmer of the year. At Rio last year she finished 13th in the open water marathon.
