The English Channel remains the pinnacle of achievement in open water swimming, and there always seem to be new records to be set and broken. This year is no exception.
Andy’s Channel Ladies (Dee Llewellyn-Hodgson (35), Nikki Fraser (24), Jane McCormick (35), Lucy Lloyd-Roach (33), Emma Ross (30) and Natalie Massey (28)) set a new three-way ladies’ record of 31 hours and 20 minutes on 5 July.
Last of the Summer Waves became the oldest ladies’ relay team, with a combined age of 393 years 10 months and 5 days. Kathy Batts (57), Sally Minty- Gravett (59), Ellery McGowan (70), Chris Pitman (66), Dee Richards (62) and Irene Keel (76) swam for 15 hrs and 17 mins, a time most young swimmers would be pleased with. The swim took place on 8 and 9 July
