ALL THE LATEST GEAR, KIT, NUTRITION PRODUCTS AND BOOKS

Start the year STRONG

From one-pieces, jammers and tankinis, we provide a snapshot of the range of prints, fabrics and styles out there to get your 2019 swim adventures off to a strong start. We also have a selection of goggles to keep you focused on your training in the pool through to open water.

It’s exciting to see brands increasingly recognising that green credentials and positive social impact are simply good business and what we want.

Look out for the green dot, by the swimming costumes which use eco -friendly fabrics e.g. like Econyl which uses regenerated nylon waste, including fishing nets.

We recognise that sustainability credentials are more broad than simply the fabrics that are used – it’s about the impact of the production cycle and supply chain as a whole; and it’s more than just about the environment, it’s about social impact as well. But we hope the green dot is a helpful start in flagging up the use of eco friendly fabrics.

All this kit is tested by swimmers for swimmers. This month’s insights are from myself, Simon, Jonathan and Jo from the Outdoor Swimmer team, Alex Carington, Jeremy Irwin, Mick Hinde and Kathrine O’Brien – all experienced outdoor swimmers.

About Outdoor Swimmer

In our January issue we tell the strange outdoor swimming history of Mao Zedong, we test a chilly willy combobulator and ponder the female gender bias in cold water swimming, leap off a waterfall in Yorkshire while discussing ways to combat the winter blues, and take up stand-up paddleboarding. Plus, our pick of our favourite events in 2019 to help you plan your new year adventures, and our resident Olympian Cassie Patten gives her top tips for motivation to help you achieve your swim goals. And just in case it all gets too much, we look at how to avoid burnout and show you how to strengthen your shoulders and avoid rotator cuff injuries.
