Brilliant, bouncy and beautiful is how I would describe my swim with the swimmers at Lligwy Beach Café Swim Club. Once they had taught me how to pronounce the name of the beach and gifted me a lovely bright yellow swim hat, we wasted no time getting into the water. Lligwy beach is on the north east of Anglesey, to the north of the village of Moelfre. It is one of those gorgeous long sandy beaches with a big tidal shit and can get some pretty epic waves in extraordinary weather. I arrived on an incoming tide, with gentle and bouncy surf. The group is not even a year old, but some of the members have been swimming in the sea for decades, and I could see why. We were lucky to have warm spring sunshine on us that morning, but a brisk north wind chilled us as we walked to the water’s edge.
