Diwali

Diwali is one of the most important festivals in Indian culture. Known as the festival of lights, the word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word Deepavali, meaning ‘rows of lights.’

The festival is celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the subcontinent, and celebrates new beginnings, and triumph of light over darkness. For many, it also coincides with harvest season, as the monsoon ends and people celebrate a return to milder and pleasant weather.
