FIELD MUSIC
Limits Of Language
MEMPHIS INDUSTRIES
Latest from Sunderland’s art-rock kings maintains high quality control.
After 20 years of defiantly doing their own thing, and in the process establishing themselves as one of Britain’s most consistently inventive bands, Field Music return with an album of off-kilter art-rock and progressive pop that rivals anything they’ve previously done. But while the deconstructed 80s-indebted sound they’ve made their own remains, Limits Of Language is darker and more mysterious than before, evoking visions of a moody strip-lit world, an ambivalent futurism. The texture of the songs is also more electronic, with hard washes of synth throughout.
