Edmund Burke, that great Conservative inspiration, once said that “society is but a contract between the dead, the living and those yet to be born.” This is the principle that underpins our 25 Year Environment Plan, which focuses on open meadowland, forests, plants, animals and the air we breathe.
Since 2010 we have doubled renewable energy production and reduced plastic bag use by 86 per cent. We have ratified the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. We will strengthen our environmental policy as we leave the EU in a green Brexit.
