By the time anyone reads this, I will have turned 70. And, as readers who’ve also reached this milestone know only too well, time does indeed wait for no one.
Where on earth did the last ten years go? That’s the refrain we all chorus – and I am inclined to agree wholeheartedly with the great writer Anthony Powell who said that ‘growing old is like being increasingly penalised for a crime you haven’t committed’.
Even so, it’s still heartening to hear that 70 is the new 60. And that’s official. Scientists have found that today’s septuagenarians are up to a decade ‘younger’ in physical and mental terms than previous generations, according to a report in the journal, Research Square.
