What’s the most overused word in mountain biking? Enduro? Stoked? Gnarly? Well, these are certainly a bit frayed at the elbows, but I’m going to suggest a term that’s been in use for much longer, almost since the sport began: ‘community’.
I used to be completely down with the idea that a bunch of random people were my Bros or Brosephines, based purely on the fact that we shared a sport in common. But when you start looking at this idea in the harsh glare of reality, it wilts a bit. Hey, fellow human, we’re between 99 and 99.7% genetically identical – but guess what, we have bicycles in common too!
