‘Now we laugh every single day’

It was my baby boy’s special day and I should have been happy – as a proud mum, this was my chance to show him off to the world. My eight-month-old, Samuel, was about to be christened, and he looked gorgeous in his lacy white romper suit. As I got into my own outfit, though, I felt my heart racing and I started to shake.

‘I can’t do it – I can’t go,’ I said to my fiancé, Steve. He looked at me in shock, and understandably so. The day had been planned for ages, and our family and friends were already waiting at the church.
