Snowbirds & RV Travelers Magazine Sept 2020 Back Issue

Revamp Your RV & Visit Your Parts Supplier

The latest reports across Canada about the increasing popularity of RVing and the fact that people are actually exploring the outdoors closer to home is welcoming news. As we head into the last half of summer and with fall just around the corner, there’s still plenty time to get out and discover new destinations.
It’s also an ideal time to consider some DIY modi cations or a few simple makeovers to your motorhome or trailer. Do-it-yourself projects
are about as difficult as you make them. Yet, they can easily breathe new life into your RV, especially after a season of traveling with family when appointments or interiors start to wear. The project could be as simple as installing new kitchen/bath hardware and adding a new awning or as involved as upgrading plumbing concerns and dropping in new flooring.
Whatever your vision, a dealer’s parts department or your local RV supply store are great resources to start any project. RV-specific parts
are pretty much mandatory given the rigours of the outdoors and travel. Plus, the array of parts available will certainly meet your needs. It’s also a chance to speak to the experts about various materials used for the select parts and accessories – not to mention installation methods and the ever-important “do’s and don’ts.”
As we explore in this issue, two of our contributors report on the benefits of basic RV makeovers as well as a more-involved dishwasher-install. While the latter may have proved to be challenging, the results were astonishing and has evolved into a common ‘conversation piece’ among his visitors and guests. You too can do the same with a little forethought and patience.
However, if your travel plans are slowing with fall coming up, why not start an RV project sooner than later? You just may realize it’s a great stay-at-home project and means you’ll end up with some new bling to further enjoy your time exploring new destinations.
